Questions & Answers
We thought you might have a few questions, so we did our best to answer some basic questions. We hope this helps, but if you still have questions, you can email us at 1022blt@gmail.com.
Why wasn’t i invited?
This one is easy. Nobody was invited.
Not even our son, Hendrix.
Why did you choose to elope?
We wanted to be married. So we did just that. Just us. Just the way we imagined it. Oh, and Papa Joe said Lindsay could.
When and where did it happen?
Our ceremony was on August 23, 2022 in Governor’s Basin, near Ouray, Colorado. The exact map coordinates of the ceremony location are 37°58'23.4"N, 107°46'08.4"W.
Why Colorado? Did you have any personal connections to your location?
Have you seen those pictures?? Colorado is beautiful and one of the few states that allows couples to “self-solemnize” (marry themselves without an officiant). We liked the idea of doing that. We did not have a special connection with the location itself before the ceremony; it was picked because its beautiful and a unique, tranquil setting.
So the ceremony was legal?
Yes, 100% legal. The paperwork has been filed at the charming little court house in Ouray, CO.
When’s the party?
Every. Single. Day. Why have just one party when you can celebrate forever?
With friends and family spread across country, all in different life stages, with varying of priorities, we knew it would be impossible to bring everyone together at once. We can’t wait to celebrate with you the next time we see you!
WHERE ARE YOU REGISTERED?
We’re not. One of our shared love languages is quality time, so our hope is to have quality time celebrating with our family and friends throughout our marriage. That’s all we want and ask for as we begin our life together.
We officially began merging our lives when we moved in together in February… and, we’re still purging and donating the overlap and excess. If your love language includes gifts, we get that. So, we welcome a big hug, high five, or celebratory cocktail next time we’re together.
why so few pics?
Like most wonderful things, it’s going to take a little bit of time before we have all of our photos back. But, here’s the good news: If you click here and submit your info, we’ll email you when the photos are available and live on this site.
We had two talented photographers capture our day, from sunrise all the way through until after the sun went down. There will be photos. LOTS of photos… likely sometime during the holiday season at the end of the year.
Will Lindsay change her name?
Yes, she’s excited to become a Turner! And, she’s honored to get to officially become a Lee.
…Wait. What!?!
And now, for the rest of the story… When Lindsay was three years old, Ronnie Lee chose to be her Dad when he married her Mom.
Growing up in a small town, she was able to choose to go by Lindsay Lee in school (thank you, MWISD teachers, coaches and staff). But, choosing to go by Lee when her birth and legal last name is Williams was a little more challenging when she moved from her hometown, with a population of 13,000, to the University of North Texas, where the student population was more than 30,000.
Officially changing her name to Lee seemed unnecessary, since she would eventually get married and change her name anyway, right!?! Turns out “eventually getting married” takes time… a really long time. But, it was worth the wait, for so many reasons.
From here on out, she will be Mrs. Lindsay Lee Turner.
